The competition is open to all organisations (companies, schools, institutions, agencies) who produced or co-produced a programme in high-definition (directing, shooting, production or post-production). Competing programmes must have been produced in 2007 or 2008, and should be attributed to one of the 7 categories by the competitors themselves :

> Programmes produced outside the french-speaking world, all categories
Competing works must have been post-produced and mastered in high-definition. The producers themselves shall apply for the competition and pick among the seven categories, first filling out the form presented on www.hdfilm-festival.com.
A DVD-Video of the programme is then required for preselection, and the programmes presented to the final jury must be made available as a 25p or 50i HDCAM master.

In order to be considered, all applications must include:
- The completed application form
- A DVD-Video of the programme
- This document, printed and signed
- A cheque for 15 euros, made out to Le Club HD (for application processing fees), or a wire transfer:

A confirmation e-mail will be sent to all applicants.
Online application forms must be completed by 29 September 2008. DVD copies of the programme must be postmarked by 22 September 2008.

The preselection process will end on 29 September 2008, when the 28 finalists will be announced, i.e. an average of four programmes per category. The producers of the selected works will have until 01 October 2008 to provide a 25p or 50i HDCAM master, failing which they will be eliminated from the competition.

Alongside the 7 category awards, there are 4 special awards given to programmes in any category.

The competition results will be announced during the award ceremony held at SIEL/SATIS/RADIO 2008, on 21 October 2008.

In order to be considered, all applications (DVD, application form, technical dossier and 15 euro payment to Le Club HD) must be sent to the Club HD, postmarked on 22 September 2008 at latest.
Application forms must be filled out and media correctly identified (DVD and box featuring participant name and film title), failing which competitors will be eliminated. The DVD-Video discs will not be returned after the competition, but rather archived by the Club HD.

For the 28 programmes taking part in the final selection, the HDCAM masters must be sent before 1 October, 2008, for competitors to remain eligible.
Information gathered by the Club HD are protected by the French law n° 78-17 of 6 January 1978, dealing with data privacy.
In accordance with this law, participants have a right of access, correction and opposition regarding their personal data, which they can exercise at any time by contacting the following e-mail address: contact@clubhd.org

The DVD-Video discs and all contents sent by preselected participants can be published (text, photos, video clips and others) as a part of the HD Film Festival promotion campaign. Therefore, each preselected participant grants a free license to the Festival, to SIEL/SATIS/RADIO and to its partners. This free, personal and non-exclusive license will allow publication, broadcasting, representation (including public) of the programme, exploitation of the photograph’s publication rights, and broadcasting a TV clip no longer than 3 minutes long as a part of the Festival’s communication to the press, television and Internet, including www.hdfilm-festival.com and www.siel-satis.com as well as partner’s websites, with no compensation.
The HD Film Festival organisers and their partners agree not to realise any profits off the aforementioned exploitations.
The competition results will be officially announced during a special event organised on the SIEL/SATIS/RADIO 2008. The 28 finalists, and especially the winners, will be screened fully or in part. The results will then be published on the Festival’s website,
www.hdfilm-festival.com, as well as on partner websites and in specialised magazines.

The programmes presented in this competition are subject to French laws on copyright and intellectual property. Participants agree not to use any content that is pornographic, violent, discriminatory or xenophobic, or that could possibly violate human dignity or any other person’s rights. The Club HD remains sole judge of a project’s appropriateness.
All elements used by the participants (videos, sounds, music, images or others) must be free of all copyrights. Participants guarantee that they have obtained all rights and authorisations allowing him to take part in this competiton, and allowing the Club HD and SIEL/SATIS/RADIO to exercise the aforementioned rights. Participants can be asked for proof of such authorisations.
Furthermore, participants guarantee the Club HD, SIEL/SATIS/RADIO and/or partners against any litigation, procedures, damages, costs, responsibility and expenses (including legal fees and reasonable lawyer fees) that could be engaged by others for any reason, including unfair competition or image rights (of people and goods), against the Club HD, SIEL/SATIS/RADIO and/or partners, relating to the competing programme

Taking part in the Festival implies full acceptation of the rules in the present document, which will be sent to any participant by the Club HD on request.
Any decision made by the Festival’s organisation team or the members of the jury, whether during preselection or final choice of the award winners, are supreme and final.
The Club HD reserves the right to cancel the competition, or the awarding of a prize, in the event of an insufficient number of applications or of relevant projects.
The Festival, organised by the Club HD, located 5 rue Victor Hugo in Sèvres, is governed by French law. In the event of any litigation regarding the competition, all participants agree that conflicts will be resolved according to French law, under the jurisdiction of the commercial court of Nanterre.
